recall –
kaleidoscopic drifts of leaves, Inwood, Indiana,
smooth sap runnels on firs, Coos Bay, Oregon,
taunting northwest snows, Missoula, Montana;
not the perversities of a winter foretold,
rather the rheostat of transformation,
seasons’ sliding dimmer switch.
