Trees have lost their leaves,
All have fallen to the ground.
Dry and dead, devoid of life.
Green in summer,
Colored red and yellow in fall.
Trees like skeletons, stand alone in fields.
Surrounded by their dead children,
The fallen leaves.
Mice nest among her departed children,
Trying to stay warm.
As cool nights descend.
Children cover dormant lawns giving
Protection from snows,
Soon to follow.
