I love you naked
skin on skin,
radiating warmth;
spooning together,
holding your breasts
that overflow from
my cupped hands.
Spring rain falls gently
thunder growls lowly
rattling panes.
You sleep, spent
from afternoon delight
and I watch you breathe
peacefully embracing bliss.
Smell of rain drifts past
the garage sale curtains,
I listen to your heart;
blood coursing rhythmically
sign of mortality
holding that instant of life.
The metronome
of the shower
marks the minutes
lost in rapture and
I am blessed to hold
eternity in my hands.
